This month I would like to keep it simple and brief but discuss a very important topic with you ladies. One that all of us need to be reminded of.
The self breast exam!
With breast cancer being so wide spread, I just want to remind all of our size sexy readers that doing this self check is part of being healthy. Can I just say EARLY PREVENTION is the best cure?! Monthly breast self-exams are encouraged for all women beginning by age 20. Women who frequently examine themselves are more aware of how their breasts should actually feel or what is normal. This is a good way to be aware of any unusual changes, like detecting masses or lumps. Both could be early signs of cancer. The best time to begin your monthly self check would be about a week after your period, when breasts are not swollen or tender. If you no longer have a period, examine yourself on the same day of every month. If you should notice any kind of change in your breasts, please see your doctor immediately. Although all breast changes are normally not cancerous, having it checked out is being precautious.
I personally keep a plastic template designed for doorknobs, on my shower head as a reminder. It has a diagram with step by step instructions for performing the different types of self exams. Find the most effective way for you and start a routine. Share any and all information you have with other women in your circle, mom, sister, cousin aunt, friend, whomever. We get together and we chit chat about the latest fashion trends, what we did over the weekend, what’s the next hottest song/video, the new guy in our lives, etc. Lets start showing our support for breast cancer prevention in our “sister circle” conversations. Be a human reminder and say to a loved one, “Don’t forget to do your self exam this month”. I feel this is a great way to start a trend.

Self Breast Exam Guide
Using a mirror, inspect your breasts with your arms at your sides, with your hands on your hips, and with your arms raised while flexing your chest muscles.
Look for any changes in contour, swelling, dimpling of skin, or appearance of the nipple. It is normal if your right and left breasts do not match exactly.
Using the pads of your fingers, press firmly on your breast, checking the entire breast and armpit area. Move around your breast in a circular, up-and-down, or wedge pattern. Remember to use the same method every month. Check both breasts.
There are three patterns you can use to examine your breast: the circular, the up-and-down, and the wedge patterns. Use the pattern that is easiest for you, and use the same pattern every month.
Gently squeeze the nipple of each breast and report any discharge to your doctor immediately.
Examine both breasts lying down. To examine the right breast, place a pillow under your right shoulder and place your right hand behind your head. Using the pads of your fingers, press firmly, checking the entire breast and armpit area. Use the same pattern you used while standing. Repeat for your left breast.
